Main purpose of the Center for Environmental Safety
The Center for Environmental Safety (CES), headed by Asanov Daulet Asanovich, was established in October 2011 by order of the Akim of Ust-Kamenogorsk, with the support of deputies of the Senate and the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Atmospheric Air Monitoring
The CES organizes the operation and technical maintenance of the "Regional Automated Industrial and Environmental Monitoring System" (RAIEMS), and performs monitoring of the state of atmospheric air, as well as meteorological, radiation, and hydrological parameters.

- The "smoking vehicles" project
Today, the main component of atmospheric air pollution in Ust-Kamenogorsk is vehicle exhaust emissions.
The Center for Environmental Safety conducts monthly monitoring to identify technically faulty "smoking" buses.
Based on this monitoring, the Center for Environmental Safety, together with the Ust-Kamenogorsk Department of Internal Affairs, carries out raids to check the content of harmful substances in vehicle exhaust. If the content of harmful substances exceeds the established standards, the offenders are brought to administrative responsibility.
